How your phone case is made – a story from Rostock and Tuscany
It begins in the rolling hills of Tuscany, where the traditional Badalassi Carlo tannery has been producing leather using time-honored techniques for generations. There, the cowhide is refined over several weeks using only vegetable tanning agents – bark, leaves, and roots. No chrome, no chemicals, just time and skill.
This special full-grain cowhide leather then travels to my workshop in Rostock. Here the real work begins: I personally select each piece of leather, cut it to size, and sew every single seam by hand using the traditional saddle stitch – stitch by stitch. I polish the edges with Japanese wax until they have a silky sheen.
